 River City Jaguars Homeschool Athletics began in 2004 as Kentuckiana’s longest-running homeschool soccer program and has since grown into a multisport homeschool athletics organization. We provide home-educated student-athletes from Southern Indiana, Greater Louisville, and surrounding areas with the opportunity to participate in competitive, Christ-centered athletics. Today, the Jaguars offer soccer for boys and girls ages 8–19, middle school and high school basketball for boys and girls, and coed high school cross country. Our teams compete against public schools, private schools, and homeschool programs throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and beyond.

Our program is made up primarily of Christian families, but we welcome athletes from all backgrounds. We use athletics as a vehicle to develop our core values of Christian character, effort, and teamwork in the lives of our student-athletes. Our sincere desire is to provide a fun, safe, and competitive environment where athletes can grow in their faith, strengthen their abilities, build lasting relationships, and be impacted in meaningful ways.

We will honor God in all that we say and do. We respect our referees, coaches, opponents, and parents.

We start strong and end strong on the pitch and in life. Our effort honors Christ, our team, our family, and our opponents.

Teamwork

We play with and for each other. 

River City Jaguars was founded in 2004 by Charlestown’s Jenny Stopher at a time when there was no fall soccer team for her home educated son Aaron to play on. Stopher used her experience as team manager at Southern Indiana United to get a squad of home-schoolers together through word of mouth and an e-mail network. With some online research, Jenny found a home school team in Lexington, Ky. (Bluegrass United), who became the Jaguars’ first and only opponents that year. “It was a rough first year, but I think God laid it on my heart to build a team for future years,” said Stopher. “The kids bonded and it brought them some consistency year to year. The consistency is something that really helped my son.”

Now in its 20th year, the River City Jaguars have built upon Stopher's dream and added teams for Girls Varsity, 14U, and 11U. In addition to many post-season achievements since 2004, the Jags have brought home 3 state championships in the last 4 years.
